The Torridon Walking Festival 2014

The fourth annual Torridon Walking Festival will take place on the weekend of 11th – 13th October.

The event takes in some of the North West Highlands finest Munros, including Torridon’s famous three: Liathach, Beinn Eighe and Ben Alligin.

There are walks to suit all abilities during the festival so if you do not fancy a high level walk why not try one of our low level walks? These may not be as challenging as the high tops but it is still guaranteed to be a great day out enjoying the delights of the flora and fauna that Torridon has to offer.

Torridon Mountain and Sea Festival 2014

Mountain Biking in Torridon

Voted as having the best Trail of the Year in consecutive years by MBR Magazine, Torridon boasts some great mountain biking routes to challenge yourself and your bike! Why not try the epic Torridon circuit – 29 miles of tough riding with 806 mtrs of breath sapping ascent, or on the slightly shorter but no less challenging 14 mile Beinn Damh circuit.

CELTMAN Extreme Scottish Triathlon

The third edition of the CELTMAN Extreme Scottish Triathlon will take place on June 28th 2014, centred around the Torridon mountains.

3.8k swimming in Loch Shieldaig, 42k running over 2 Munros and 202k of cycling on wonderful Highland roads.

If not taking part, then come along to cheer these seriously tough competitors.

Eagles of Loch Maree

Two sea eagle chicks have recently hatched at the nest on Loch Maree Islands. Cameras were installed last year and live footage is relayed back to the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve (NNR) visitor centre. The cameras will allow close views of the adults bringing in food for the chicks, and people will be able to monitor their progress as they grow, and hopefully fledge the nest in late summer.

The Beinn Eighe visitor centre is on the outskirts of Kinlochewe and is open seven days a week in the summer, 10am to 5pm.

Lochcarron Highland Games 2014

On Saturday 19th July at Attadale Estate, Strathcarron, the games will be running for the 35th year and will be marked by a gathering of over a 100 members of the the Clan Matheson.

Drawn to the West

An exciting new exhibition is showing at the Gallery at the Loch Torridon Centre. Running from the 5th April until August 2014, there are plenty of exhibits from both local artists and those that visit the area. Well worth a look.

Highlander Mountain Marathon

A Mountain Marathon is traditionally a competition in which teams of two navigate their way around a two-day course in mountainous terrain carrying all provisions and equipment necessary for an overnight camp and the exact location of the start is kept a secret from the competitors until a month before the event takes place.

The next one of these epic marathons takes place in the Torridon area on April 26th and 27th 2014.
